Topic 1:Affected Canadian’s
In World War One, many Canadians got affected and here are some of them. The war lasted from August/4/1914 – November/4/1918. Canada had over 8 million people at the time. 630,000 Canadians helped out and out of those, 420,000 people went overseas. 60,661 were killed and 172,000 were wounded. 50,000 of whom died were railway workers who starved to death due to the huge amount of tax. Women also got affected because of the war. Once the men left, women had to step up to take the jobs of the men. Women got higher ranked jobs out of this. 200,000 more people were working during World War One. The government was surprised by this, and women proved themselves to be able to take care of themselves alone. Most of which, worked as maids to get money and keep their families going while the husband was gone. During World War One, all of Canada got affected and everyone helped in some way.
