The rights in the 20th century
are way different from the rights in the 1880s. Women can freely do the same
occupations as the men can. In the 1880s women got paid way less than the men
did for the same occupation. Women and men back then weren’t equal; women were
in the same category as criminals. Until
this day women are still discriminated, that they cannot do the same things men
can do (construction work, working in business or in parliament). Women now can
have any occupation they wish to have.
Single women can now buy, sell and own property. Women can freely go out
without their husband’s permission. It is now illegal l to beat or hit a women
it is because it is considered abuse and he can go to prison for abusing a
women. I believe the government today
would be a complete mess without women in parliament. Women now have the right
to vote in all of North America, and be a part of parliament but we have not
yet had a women President or Prime Minister in either Canada or the United
States. Without women rights half of the girls in this classroom right now
wouldn’t be getting a proper education, learning to read or write. Some of our
mothers wouldn’t be working and providing for our families. It would be a
completely different without women’s rights.
